Silimed/Sientra breast implants have been voluntarily withdrawn from distribution by the manufacturers in Brazil. This follows the identification of foreign particles on the surfaces of some devices (they make a number of devices not just breast implants) during a regulatory inspection and a subsequent temporary suspension of the CE mark required for distribution in Europe (they make a number of devices not just breast implants).
There is no indication at present that this represents a threat to the safety of any implanted patient and is precautionary pending complete investigation.
We are committed to the safety of all patients and are proactively remaining in touch with developments regarding further information as it comes to hand.
At Allure, almost all of our patients have Allergan implants and are NOT affected by these findings.
Investigations are ongoing and as you can see from the enclosed communication from one of the International Societies that Dr Magnusson is a member of, this is a worldwide precaution.
