Body Contouring
Major life changes such as pregnancy and weight loss as well as the general ageing process can all have an effect on different areas of the body, including the arms, thighs and abdomen.
There are a number of procedures that fall under the body contouring category but they are all designed to address issues such as skin laxity, excess fat and contour irregularities. At Allure Clinic in Toowoomba, we offer a number of body contouring procedures that can help you achieve your ideal shape, including arm and thigh lifts, abdominoplasty, liposuction and body lifts.
While one procedure is enough to help you achieve your goals, many patients choose to undergo a combination of procedures. A/Prof Mark Magnusson will help you decide which of these procedures are right for you during your consultation.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What to Expect during Body Contouring Surgery
Arm & Thigh Lift
An arm and thigh lift focuses on tightening and removing any excess skin and fat that could be negatively affecting the appearance of those areas of the body. To complete an arm lift, A/Prof Magnusson will make incisions on the underside of both arms, after which the necessary tissues and skin will be tightened. If excess fat needs to be removed, the procedure will be combined with liposuction. A thigh lift is very similar except the incisions are made on the inside of the upper thighs.
Body Lift
A body lift aims to tighten and lift the lower abdomen, buttocks, hips and back to create a shapelier appearance. To complete a body lift, an incision will be made at the waist or just below it. From there, any excess skin will be removed and the relevant tissue will be tightened. The length of the incision will depend on how much skin needs to be removed and where it needs to be removed. In many cases, a body lift needs to be combined with liposuction in order to get rid of any excess fat.
Abdominoplasty
In order to remove any excess skin and tighten the abdominal muscles, an incision is made along the lower abdomen. If excess fat also needs to be removed, a tummy tuck will be combined with liposuction, which will be performed before an incision is made. Before the stomach is stitched up, the remaining skin will be draped over the abdomen.
Liposuction
Liposuction is a minimally invasive way to get rid of any excess fat that is preventing you from achieving your ideal body shape. To complete the procedure, a series of small incisions will be made, after which a cannula will be used to extract the excess fat. The areas that are most commonly treated with liposuction include the abdomen, arms, back, thighs, hips and buttocks.
What to Expect after Body Contouring Surgery
Following your body contouring surgery, A/Prof Magnusson will provide you with specific aftercare instructions that will ensure the very best outcome. It’s important to carefully follow every instruction if you want to avoid complications. Here is a general idea of recovery times after each procedure.
Arm & Thigh Lift
Recovering from an arm or thigh lift can take anywhere from four to six weeks and the incisions can take up to a year to heal completely. Patients will need to take at least a week off of work but two weeks is more ideal.
Body Lift
The average patient will require four to six weeks to recover from a body lift. Because it’s important not to place any pressure on the treated area, exercise should only be resumed six to eight weeks after body lift surgery.
Abdominoplasty
Recovery after a tummy tuck will depend on how extensive the surgery was. In general, patients will need two weeks to recover, after which they can return to work. However, it will take several months before you can resume your normal routine and exercise.
Liposuction
If a small area was treated, patients can expect to return to work within a few days. However, larger areas may require up to 10 days of recovery time.
