Lip Enhancement

Volume loss is one of the many changes that occur as we age and the lips and cheeks are two of the areas that tend to highlight this change first. Lip enhancement is more common than ever before and when it’s performed by an experienced medical professional, it’s possible to achieve youthful and natural-looking results that enhance your appearance.

At Allure Clinic in Toowoomba, we use a non-animal, stabilised product to restore lost volume and enhance the lips. Our registered nurse injector can advise you on the best treatment to address your specific lip-related concerns.

The injectable gel that we use for lip enhancement can be used to either improve your natural lip shape or to increase volume. Many people want a natural appearance that is subtle and enhances the natural shape of their lips.

All lip enhancement injections/fillers are performed under local anaesthetic to give you that WOW factor without the discomfort.

How Do Lip Fillers Work?

Once your expectations have been discussed with a clinician at Allure Clinic in Toowoomba, your lips will be prepared and a topical numbing cream will be applied should you be concerned about discomfort.

A series of small injections will then be used to gradually add filler to your lips. When it comes to lip filler, a less is more approach is always recommended. You can always add more filler later on if you feel that you want to enhance your lips further. If you want to achieve a more natural-looking result though, it’s best to keep the filler to a minimum. The average lip filler appointment won’t last longer than 15 – 20 minutes, which means you can easily schedule it in over your lunch hour.

If for any reason you are not happy with the appearance of your lips, it is possible to reduce the effects of the treatment using a dissolving enzyme.

Along with avoiding specific supplements and medications, if you are prone to cold sores, it’s highly recommended that you start taking the necessary medication several days before your appointment to avoid a breakout.

What to Expect after a Lip Filler Treatment?

Directly after your session, there may be some mild swelling but this is completely normal and will subside over several hours. In rare cases, there may also be some mild bruising but this generally only occurs if the patient was taking certain supplements and medications in the days leading up to their appointment. Your clinician will provide you with a list of these supplements and medications prior to your appointment to ensure bruising can be kept to a minimum.

Patients are free to return to work or their normal routine directly after their appointment but strenuous exercise is not recommended for the first 24 – 38 hours. Direct sun exposure should also be kept to a minimum directly after your appointment.

Lip fillers can last up to six months, it all depends on how quickly your body metabolises the ingredients. A top-up treatment will be required once or twice a year if you want to maintain your results.
