Laser Hair Removal

Body hair can be such a pain to deal with and removal methods such as shaving and waxing can be painful and leave you with ingrown hairs and rashes – plus, there’s the fact that the results are not permanent. Not only is laser hair removal convenient but the results are long-lasting too.

At Allure Clinic in Toowoomba, we use the Sciton Forever Bare BBL, which is the best laser hair removal system on the market. The system’s unique design heats follicles to the precise temperature for fast and easy hair removal. A thermoelectrically-cooled sapphire crystal on the hand piece provides continuous skin cooling before, during, and after the treatment to make your session comfortable.

Sciton Forever Bare BBL can be used on light and dark skin tones and both men and women can achieve excellent results on areas such as the face, legs, back, underarms and along the bikini line.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How Cutera CoolGlide Laser Hair Removal Works

Once your requirements have been discussed with a clinician at our clinic, the targeted area will be prepared for treatment.

As the handpiece moves across the skin, pulses of light are delivered directly into the follicles of the unwanted hair. No topical anaesthetic cream or pain medication will be required because the system produces a cooling effect as it glides over the skin. However, if a particularly sensitive area is being treated, a topical anaesthetic cream can be applied as the patient’s request.

There are a number of factors that will determine how many treatments you will require, including hair thickness, the growth cycle and the area being treated. Most patients require about six CoolGlide treatments spaced eight to ten weeks apart to achieve their desired result. The average CoolGlide treatment lasts between 15 – 30 minutes depending on the area that’s being treated.

The CoolGlide system works by disabling the hair when it’s in its active growth phase and since hair goes through the growth phase at different times, not all hairs can be deactivated at the same time.

Laser hair removal is not recommended for anyone who is pregnant, diabetic or has a history of skin keloids or cancer. Patients also shouldn’t be on medication that could react to light exposure.

The Cutera CoolGlide system is safe since only light is being used to remove the hair. The procedure is also non-invasive, which means there are little to no side effects.

What to Expect after Cutera CoolGlide Laser Hair Removal

Patients won’t see a noticeable difference directly after their laser hair removal session at Allure Clinic in Toowoomba. There will be a few small red marks on the areas that were treated but this only lasts several minutes. The unwanted hair that was targeted will begin to fall out after two to three weeks and it may even become slightly darker just before falling out.

Patients are free to return to their usual activities directly after their session but applying a good-quality sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 to the treated area is highly recommended.

It’s not uncommon for patients to see some hair regrowth just before the hair starts to fall out. It’s perfectly fine to shave this hair but plucking and waxing are not recommended as this could affect your results.

It’s important to keep in mind that results will vary between patients but overall, patients can expect permanent hair reduction over the long-term by sticking to a personalised treatment plan.

Once the unwanted hair follicles have been damaged, new hair is unable to grow. Naturally, there will be a few follicles that manage to escape the laser, so this is something to be aware of. As you age, hormonal changes can also lead to new follicle development, so there is always a slight chance that additional treatments will be required.
