Laser Resurfacing

Over time, age and external factors such as sun exposure and a modern lifestyle all start to have an effect on your skin. Pigmentation and discolouration, as well as fine lines and wrinkles, are just some of the most common changes that your skin might go through over time.

Pearl Fusion is the gold standard in laser resurfacing solutions – especially for deep, resistant wrinkles – which is why we use it at Allure Clinic in Toowoomba. Patients can expect to see improvements in their wrinkles, tone and skin texture and will have a noticeably smoother and brighter complexion.

The Pearl Fusion laser resurfacing system is designed to destroy pigmented skin cells and renew the epidermal layer, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and improving the size of pores. It also treats scars and sun damage at a deeper level.

Performed in our rooms by A/Prof Mark Magnusson, this ablative laser treatment will require some downtime. However, you are able to relax in the comfort of your home for a couple of days afterwards. An after-care pack is provided at the time of your treatment and we recommend that you avoid sun exposure for a week or so after your session to allow your skin to recover without further aggravation.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How Does Pearl Fusion Laser Resurfacing Work?

The Pearl Fusion laser resurfacing system uses heat to expose small holes on a deep level under the skin, which not only removes sun damage but stimulates the body’s natural repair process. As the body regenerates the skin, it produces more collagen, resulting in healthier, smoother skin.

Most patients are able to achieve their desired results in one to three Pearl Fusion session, which each session taking about 30 minutes to an hour. Patients who have severe sun damage will generally require more treatments than someone with mild damage. Laser resurfacing is generally performed on the face and neck and can be used to treat quite a wide variety of skin concerns.

Unfortunately, darker skin types cannot be treated with the Pearl Fusion system, so other resurfacing options will need to be considered.

What to Expect after a Laser Resurfacing Treatment?

Following your Pearl Fusion treatment at the Allure Cosmetic Clinic, you will start seeing a noticeable improvement after a week. Makeup can be applied once the skin has stopped peeling, which is usually after 5 – 7 days.

Patients can also expect to see gradual improvements over the course of three to six months as the skin continues to heal and collagen levels increase. Most patients will require about three to five days of downtime after their laser resurfacing session. Your skin will feel slightly sunburnt after your treatment and there may be some mild swelling, which is why downtime is necessary.

As your skin heals, a natural protective layer will form, which will aid the restoration process. Your Allure Clinic clinician will provide you with a specific set of aftercare instructions that you should follow very carefully if you want to avoid side effects and achieve the best possible results.

By day two, any redness will have turned brown and by day three, your skin will slowly start to peel, revealing a brighter, smoother layer underneath. It’s exceptionally important to always apply sunscreen before you leave the house as your skin will be more sensitive than usual after your treatment.
